This bag has been lovingly handmade by Wayuu indigenous women. Her creativity, expertise and learning ability are reflected in the quality of her handicrafts. A high-quality bag is characterized by a tight weave and it is created using three techniques: vertical weaving, "atulush" knotting and crocheting. With this project, Mama Tierra offers financial independence to indigenous women in La Guajira, an area between Colombia and Venezuela.

Lourdes Grollimund created this piece. As President of Mama Tierra, Lourdes intensively works among others on the strategic direction of Mama Tierra designs and color combinations. Lourdes researches the western trends, seasonal color styles and motifs in a benchmarking analysis. As a result, Mama Tierra brings forth irresistible, high-quality accessories.
Empowering women
Mama Tierra offers pre-payments and working material to the indigenous women, thereby strengthening their financial independence. The focus is on women because they ensure the well-being of the family, ensuring its income and educating the children.
Material: 100% Polyacrylic yarn produced by the factory Miratex in Colombia. Azo dye-free, Iso-Standard 9001: 2000.
