GOTS-certified cotton
The yarn used is GOTS certified cotton from Peru. So far, most of the native textiles in the Caribbean are made of polyacrylic, for which plastic is needed. By using and spreading GOTS, Mama Tierra not only introduces sustainable materials to the area, but also helps to reduce plastic waste.

Crochet
This bag was lovingly handmade by Wayuu indigenous women. Their creativity, expertise and learning abilities are reflected in the quality of their handicrafts. A high-quality bag is characterized by a tight weave and is created using three techniques: vertical weaving, "atulush" knotting and crocheting. With this project, Mama Tierra offers financial independence to indigenous women in La Guajira, an area between Colombia and Venezuela.

Lourdes Grollimund created this piece. As President of Mama Tierra, Lourdes intensively works on the strategic direction of Mama Tierra designs and colour combinations. Lourdes researches western trends, seasonal colour styles and motifs in a benchmarking analysis. As a result, Mama Tierra brings forth irresistible, high-quality accessoires.

Empowering Women
Mama Tierra offers pre-payments and working material to indigenous women, thereby strengthening their financial independence. The focus is on women because they ensure the well-being of the family, securing its income and educating the children.
