GOTS certified cotton
The yarn used in this bag is GOTS certified cotton from Peru. Most indigenous textiles in the Caribbean are made from polyacrylic, which is why plastic waste accumulates there. MAMA TIERRA's accessory creation, however, encourages the use of natural materials and thus contributes to a reduction of plastic waste in Colombia's most rural area, La Guajira.

Crochet
This bag was lovingly handmade by Wayuu Indigenous women. Their creativity, expertise and learning abilities are reflected in the quality of their handicrafts. A high-quality bag is characterized by a tight weave and is created using three techniques: vertical weaving, "atulush" knotting and crocheting. By ensuring fair wages, MAMA TIERRA offers financial independence to indigenous women in La Guajira, an area between Colombia and Venezuela.

Design by Dr. Lourdes Grollimund
