Crochet!
This bag was lovingly handmade by Wayuu indigenous women. Their creativity, expertise and learning ability are reflected in the quality of their handicrafts. A high-quality bag is characterized by a tight weave and is created using three techniques: vertical weaving, "atulush" knotting and crocheting. With this project, Mama Tierra offers financial independence to indigenous women in La Guajira, an area between Colombia and Venezuela.
Swiss design by Dr. Lourdes Grollimund

Empowering women
Mama Tierra offers pre-payments and working material to the indigenous women, thereby strengthening their financial independence. The focus is on women because they ensure the well-being of the family, securing its income and educating the children.
