GOTS certified material
Mama Tierra uses sustainable materials such as GOTS certified cotton yarn from Peru. Since most indigenous textiles are made from plastic based yarns, the production of the Mama Tierra accessories thus not only avoids using fossil-fuel by-products, but also contributes to a reduction in plastic waste in the La Guajira region.

Swiss Design by Patrizia Stalder
MAMA TIERRA sets high standards for the design of its accessories and often works with exceptional designers. One of them is Patrizia Stalder from Basel. Her illustrations were included in the publication "200 Best Illustrators Worldwide 2018/2019" by Lürzer's Archiv, which selects creatively outstanding designs from all around the world. Patrizia's designs are often guided by her love of the Caribbean and at MAMA TIERRA she combines modern elements with those from the mythology of the Caribbean Wayuu people who make the accessories.

Made in Venezuela
With your order, you are helping the Wayuu indigenous people in Venezuela to secure an income. Each design reflects elements of Mother Nature such as plants, animals, the sun and the stars. The production of the tapestry is a good source of income for the Wayuu in Venezuela. Especially because the indigenous people earn in Colombian pesos. Thereby they escape the high inflation rate in Venezuela.

Empowering indigenous women
Mama Tierra's vision is to enable indigenous women to lead self-determined and financially independent lives. We do this by distributing the accessories produced by Wayuu Indians in their homeland under fair conditions.
