Rendering Tribute to Frida Kahlo
Frida paid tribute to her Tehuana roots through an iconic look: her indigenous clothing, braids and flower crowns. Through this, the Mexican revolutionary made highly political statements on cultural identity and racial inequality in the 1940s. This cultural legacy is preserved by the Frida Kahlo Corporation today. The Frida Kahlo Corporation, owner of the worldwide trademark rights to the Frida Kahlo name, supports Mama Tierra with licensing rights.

GOTS certified cotton
Mama Tierra uses sustainable materials such as GOTS-certified cotton yarn. Since most indigenous textiles are made from plastic-based yarns, the production of the Mama Tierra accessories thus not only avoids using fossil-fuel by-products but also contributes to a reduction in plastic waste in La Guajira, Colombia’s most rural area.

Design by Patrizia Stalder
The illustrator and graphic artist Patrizia Stalder designed the collection "Natura" with Mama Tierra. Patrizia Stalder is a Swiss multi-faceted artist, working as a painter, illustrator and graphic designer. Patrizia’s illustrations have been included in the “200 Best Illustrators Worldwide 18/19” publication by Lürzer Archiv. Lürzer's Archiv presents creatively outstanding campaigns from all over the world and enjoys a high reputation in many countries.

Empowering indigenous women
Mama Tierra's vision is to enable indigenous women to lead self-determined and financially independent lives. We do this by distributing the accessories produced by Wayuu in their homeland under fair conditions.
