Mama Tierra places high demand on design - the patterns that adorn the accessories were created by Desigual designer Coral Hernandez Finol. The is a reason why Mama Tierra patterns have a recognizable connection to the Caribbean: the design combines modern elements with those from the mythology of the Caribbean Wayuu people, such as the jaguar. The Jaguar represents the Uliana clan, who’s members live in the desert between Colombia and Venezuela. The Wayuu call the mythical ancestor Kalaira. According to the Wayuu, family members of the Jaguar clan also inherit the qualities of the jaguar such as courage, solidarity and intelligence.
