Vegan leather bag
This bag is made of cactus leaves processed into eco-leather, whose stable leaf fibres are an equivalent substitute for animal leather. The motif on the front is handcrocheted by Wayuu indigenous women in Colombia. Their creativity, expertise and learning abilities are reflected in the quality of their handicrafts. A high-quality bag is characterized by a tight weave and is created using three techniques: vertical weaving, "atulush" knotting and crocheting. With this project, Mama Tierra offers financial independence to indigenous women in La Guajira, an area between Colombia and Venezuela.

Inspired by the Wayuu living environment
The Wayuu indigenous peoples live in the La Guajira desert between Colombia and Venezuela. The landscape is arid, but full of stunning cacti.

Empowering indigenous women
Mama Tierra's vision is to enable indigenous women to lead self-determined and financially independent lives. We do this by distributing the accessories produced by Wayuu Indians in their homeland under fair conditions.
