Made with GOTS certified cotton
Mama Tierra uses sustainable materials such as GOTS certified cotton yarn from Peru. Since most indigenous textiles are made from plastic based yarns, the production of the Mama Tierra accessories thus not only avoids using fossil-fuel by-products, but also contributes to a reduction in plastic waste in La Guajira, Colombia’s most rural area.
Design by Coral Hernandez
Star designer Coral Hernandez this piece. Coral Hernandez Finol comes from Venezuela and works for Custo Barcelona, Desigual and Mango, among others.
Mystical eye of wisdom
The inspiration for this motif comes from the mysticism around the third eye, which radiates omniscient wisdom. Surrounded by sun, moon and stars, it also lights up your world.
Made in Venezuela
In the 1970s, the Venezuelan tapestry was popular. From the Fira de Barcelona to the MoMa Museum in New York, the Wayuu crafts could be admired in museums all over the world. The indigenous people wind the yarn on a so-called weaver's shuttle and push the thread through the fabric. This time-consuming technique went out of fashion and many artisans could not sell their art anymore. Mama Tierra has worked together with the artisans in order to create beautiful clutches with the same technique of the antique wall tapestries. The new products undoubtedly meet the current Zeitgeist.
