Designed by Coral Hernandez
Desigual Designer Coral Hernandez drew inspiration from Kalaira, the Totem animal of the Uriana Clan. According to the Wayuu, family members of the Jaguar clan also inherit the qualities of the jaguar such as courage, solidarity and intelligence.
Made in Venezuela
In the 1970s, the Venezuelan tapestry was popular. From the Fira Barcelona to the MoMa Museum in New York, the Wayuu crafts could be admired in museums all over the world. The indigenous people wind the yarn on a so-called weaver's shuttle and push the thread through the fabric. This time-consuming technique went out of fashion and many artisans could not sell their art anymore. Mama Tierra has worked together with the artisans in order to create beautiful clutches with the same technique of the antique wall tapestries. The new products undoubtedly meet the current Zeitgeist.
Material: Polyacrylic yarn 100% produced by the factory Miratex in Colombia. Azo dye-free, Iso-Standard 9001: 2000.
