Made with GOTS certified cotton
The yarn used this clutch is GOTS certified cotton from Peru. Most indigenous textiles in the Caribbean are made from polyacrylic, which is why plastic waste accumulates there. Mama Tierra's accessory creation, however, spreads the use of natural materials and thus contributes to a reduction of plastic waste in Colombia's most rural area, La Guajira.

Swiss design by Patrizia Stalder
Patrizia Stalder is a multi-faceted Swiss artist who works as a painter, illustrator and graphic designer. Her illustrations were included in the Lürzer's Archiv's publication 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide 18/19, which selects creatively outstanding design from all over the world. It is not without reason that her designs have a recognisable connection to the Caribbean, as she fell in love with the place during a trip. For the design of the Mama Tierra accessories, she combines modern elements with those from the mythology of the Caribbean Wayuu people, such as plants, animals, sun and darkness.

Made in Venezuela
In the 1970s, the Venezuelan tapestry was very popular. From the Fira de Barcelona to the MoMa Museum in New York, the Wayuu crafts could be admired in museums all over the world. The indigenous peoples wind the yarn on a so-called weaver's shuttle and push the thread through the fabric. This time-consuming technique went out of fashion and many artisans lost a major source of income. In collaboration with the artisans, Mama Tierra revives the design and technique of these tapestries and transforms them into beautiful pouches, clutches and cushions that meet the current Zeitgeist.
