This bag was lovingly handmade by Wayuu indigenous women. Their creativity, expertise and learning abilities are reflected in the quality of their handicrafts. A high-quality bag is characterized by a tight weave and is created using three techniques: vertical weaving, "atulush" knotting and crocheting. With this project, Mama Tierra offers financial independence to indigenous women in La Guajira, an area between Colombia and Venezuela.

As a non-profit organization, Mama Tierra is committed to protecting the environment and preserving one of the most speciose coastal lagoons in the world. The incredible biodiversity of Venezuela inspired Desigual designer Coral Hernandez to create this pattern.
Empowering Women
Mama Tierra offers pre-payments and working material to the indigenous women, thereby strengthening their financial independence. The focus is on women because they ensure the well-being of the family, securing its income and educating the children.
Material: 100% Polyacrylic yarn produced by the factory Miratex in Colombia. Azo dye-free, Iso-Standard 9001: 2000.
