Preserving traditional weaving techniques
One of Mama Tierra's main concerns is to preserve the traditional handicrafts of the indigenous peoples. This includes, for example, the production of straps, the so-called Si'iras. These are made using traditional techniques dating back to pre-colonial times. Mama Tierra is currently working with 120 indigenous women, of whom only two women are still able to use this technique. This great piece was lovingly produced by Otilia, who was born in 1934.
Leather
The leather used for the strap is made of rest pieces.
Material: 100% synthetic fibres (polyacrylic), azo dye-free, Iso-Standard 9001:2000. Leather.
