The Evil Eye Design
The design is linked to “Mal de Ojo”, which is a South American popular belief of the "evil eye". Thus, "Mal de Ojo" means that people can be harmed by disapproving glances or die or that their possessions could be damaged. Usually, it is believed that an amulet should be worn in order to counteract the evil eye. Therefore, the eye on the clutch should protect its bearer from the envy of others.
